CLEAR is a model for reporting the climate effects of the forest sector, designed for use in contexts such as forestry companies' annual reports or sustainability reports.

In this webinar, you will learn more about the various components of the CLEAR reporting model, covering everything from changes in carbon stocks in forests and forest products to fossil emissions within the value chain, as well as avoided emissions which can arise in other sectors when forest products replace more fossil-intensive alternatives.

Peter Holmgren from FutureVistas gives a presentation on frameworks for climate reporting in the forest sector. You will also hear how several forestry companies are implementing climate reporting. For example, SCA will share how they have been using what is now known as the CLEAR model since 2018 and how they are contributing to its further development. Thanks to the model and its various components, SCA was able to calculate that the potential climate benefit from avoided emissions in other sectors was of the same magnitude as the benefit of increased carbon storage in forests and forest products.

Södra describes the CLEAR model as an important tool that captures the full climate impact of the forest sector, emphasizing the importance of standardization and harmonization in climate reporting. This is seen as essential for achieving credibility and transparency in reporting.

These presentations are complemented by an outlook where the Swedish bank ”Landshypotek” highlights climate reporting from the perspective of the financial sector, and Metsä Group discusses the state of climate reporting in Finland.
